Chapter 1
"Please ...please ...forgive me..."
His words spoke softly like a desperate dying man in earnest prayer at the last hour of life as he fell to his knees with great sorrow. Looking towards the dark heavens again, his sad eyes humbly begged in silence for him ...and his pleas of forgiveness.
"Please ...I know not what I've done ...to hurt them ...to ...to hurt ...her..."
Suddenly an outpour of heavy drops of rain dripped to the earth like gentle tears wetting his face as he frantically ran out of the alley down the empty street. Where he was heading ...the path towards his destination was still unknown to his feet. Yet he knew he had to flee from the demons of his past, present and uncertain future that was fading fast haunting him. Though after tonight, there would be no escaping than any longer. At a nearby distance he could hear the lonely toll og bells ringing in the night. They beckoned him to draw closer to what appears to be his only salvation. The man in vain tried to resist the soft tubular music ringing yet it gradually soothes his troubled soul into a calm lull. Then angry flashes of sharp lightning streaked across the dark skies revealing the menacing enemy calling out to him. Furiously he scoffed at it. However upon hearing the screaming police sirens not too far away, he realizes it will be his only refuge to hide and protect him. and inside its beastly sanctuary is where they shall find him before the dawning of the new morning.
Hearing the sirens getting louder and dangerously closer, Saint panics while racing fast towards the doors of the Christian sanctuary. Time was definitely against him since he had no other possible choice at the moment except to seek comfort within its sacred walls ...even though despising the heartless enemy. He stumbled and then collapsed on the steps for a minute while struggling hard to catch his breath. A beastly howl in excruciating agony escaped his quivering lips after touching the stabbing soreness within his ribcage. It was extremely painful when breathing in cold air into his lungs that he was coughing blood sometimes. Unsteadily, Saint forced himself to stand up and continue climbing the steps until finally reaching the large wooden doors.
"Please ...please forgive ...forgive me," he mutters breathlessly again as if the words spoken were indeed the magic spell to grant him entry inside. Meanwhile ...not too far away, the blaring whine of police sirens draw ever so closer towards him.
"Please ...please ...forgive ...me..."
Mustering hard the very little strength he had left, Saint could feel the crushing weight of every burden ...sins committed while he pushed open the doors. Angrily shaking his head in disgust, he kicked and pounded on the stubborn objects. Though he didn't appreciate that the church refused him entrance inside Saint tried pushing the doors open a second time. This time the heavy doors yielded to his bidding and not a moment too soon upon spotting a squad car screeching its arrival onto the scene.
"I didn't mean to do it!" he shouts his passionate plea as he tosses the murder weapon at the flashing lights before entering the church.
